Katanaut - from concept to 20k+ wishlists

Voidmaw Games came to us seeking a key art piece for their action roguelite launch at Next Fest. Together we worked through a few composition directions before landing on the final - a single, iconic frame that captures the sci-fi zombie chaos set aboard a collapsing space station.

Questions we get a lot

What happens during creative review?
We confirm fit, timing, and approach. Usually within one working day - always within three.
What does the deposit actually mean?
This reserves your slot. If we can't confirm, you get a full refund.
How certain are delivery dates?
Very. We cap concurrent projects and build buffer into every tier.
What if my needs don't fit a standard tier?
Let us know in the form. We'll happily quote a custom scope during review.
What is key art for games?
Key art is the primary marketing image for a game - the hero visual used on Steam, storefronts and press materials. A strong key art piece communicates the game's tone, genre and commercial promise in a single image.
What's the difference between key art, box art, cover art and Steam capsule art?
The same thing with different names. Key art is the professional industry term used by studios and publishers. Cover art and box art come from the physical retail era. Steam capsule art refers specifically to the horizontal and vertical images Steam requires for store listings. MLC Studio produces all of these as part of a single key art engagement.
How much does game key art cost?
MLC Studio offers three tiers - Simple, Standard and Premium - with pricing visible on the booking page. Pricing varies by complexity and deliverables. You can review packages and book a slot directly.
How long does game key art production take?
Production timelines depend on the package selected. All bookings require a start date at least two business days from submission. Estimated timelines are shown per package on the booking page.
Do you work with indie studios?
Absolutely! We're all about supporting indies. Our portfolio includes indie titles across a range of genres and budgets. The booking service is designed specifically to make professional key art easily accessible to indie and mid-size studios.
What do I need to provide to get started?
After booking a slot, you'll complete a structured brief covering your game's genre, tone, reference art and deliverable requirements. Nice and simple!
Can I see examples of your key art work?
Plenty of portfolio examples are on this page and on the MLC Studio main site at mlc.studio. Titles include One Wee Robot, Terminus: Zombie Survivors, OTXO, Valorborn, ChromaGun 2: Dye Hard and Katanaut.
